Gilman biomass expansion

Through the acquisition of the hydroelectric facility at Gilman, Ampersand also acquired the 4 MW biomass plant on the site. Given the site's advantageous geographic location and the facility's smooth operating history, Ampersand has initiated a detailed analysis of the potential to increase the capacity of the biomass operation to 12.5 MW. Ampersand has commenced work with various engineers with proven track records of refurbishing mothballed biomass boilers to optimize the plant's performance while maintaining emission standards to secure qualification for Class I Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

Hydroelectric acquisitions

Ampersand is currently in varying stages of examining several investments in small hydro facilities in the Northeastern US. Ampersand intends to create several geographic clusters of small hydro facilities, and has established close relationships with several experienced operators of such facilities. Ampersand believes there are significant opportunities to pursue, in particular with the acquisition of hydro stations of up to 5 MW in size.

Solar and wind

Ampersand is continuing to explore opportunities to invest in solar and wind, particularly small scale installations in close proximity to existing Ampersand operations. The firm has signed or is negotiating MOUs with experienced developers and closely monitors evolution of relevant markets.
